Navigating a New Foodservice Supply Chain

Laura MacPhail has a wide range of strategic consulting and research experience in the food industry, focusing extensively on both consumers and the foodservice supply chain. She recently joined CSSI (Culinary Sales Support Inc.), a full-service strategy and marketing communications agency that offers clients a full array of culinary consulting and development services.

Her practice centers on brand awareness and positioning, trade channel requirements and education, product innovation, and customer satisfaction.

She initiated a program called Foodservice Immersion™ (www.fs-immersion.com), an intensive training program designed to meet the needs of those selling and marketing to foodservice operators.

Laura spent many years as Principal of The Hale Group, a management consulting firm that provides strategic counsel to the food industry, where she was responsible for all aspects of market research and resultant strategy development. She has addressed numerous industry meetings on topics ranging from the impact of technology on the foodservice marketplace to trends in the foodservice supply chain.

During her tenure as Chair of the Market Data Committee of IFMA, she received the IFMA Sparkplug Award for her contributions to the foodservice industry.

Laura is a former board member of the Women’s Foodservice Forum, and was chair of that group’s Research Committee.

Laura received a B.A. from Cornell University and an MBA from Michigan State Univer­sity’s Broad College of Business, with a concentration in the School of Hospitality Business. Prior to attending graduate school, she spent several years in restaurant operations.
